Development Time May 2022 - Ongoing, Ongoing
Company Fenris Publishing

I am currently working on a new video game project, Neon Roar, with some like-minded individuals at Fenris Publishing. The game is a retro-style love letter to early sega genesis games, such as Golden Axe, Gradius, and Contra. The game features four different characters, each with a unique style of play. Reload is a platforming-shooter, Dozer is a side-scrolling beat-em-up, Tide is a top-down racing-rythm game, and Cyan is a side-scrolling galaga-like shooter. The game was Kickstarted in 2022 and received over %125 of its funding goal and is looking for release in early 2027.

Over the course of development, I have handled many different areas of coding. I’ve had a hand in three of the four different character controllers, physics, and enemy types for all three. I’ve also worked on the title screen and menu systems, the controller rebinding system, the options system, and worked on integrating these as part of the in-game pause menu. Being a small team, I’ve also taken on work outside of programming, such as assisting with the design of mechanics, design of the UI/UX, and contributed some art assets for the menus.

This project has been a big labour of love that I’ve undertaken in my off-time, after work, on weekends, and on holidays. While it has taken a while to get where it is, I’m excited to keep working on it and seeing it to the finish line!
